The Atyrau Education Department wanted to purchase 600 kilogrammes of herring for a kindergarten for 1 million tenge. The purchase was discovered during a monitoring of the public procurement website.
According to media reports, the public association «Әділдік жолы» sent a request to the relevant authorities questioning whether the product met children's food standards. As a result, the procurement notice was reviewed.
"The administration of the education department cancelled this tender, guided by the principles of efficient use of budget funds set out in the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This led to cost savings of 1,069,200 tenge," said «Әділдік жолы».
It is reported that those responsible were brought to disciplinary account.
Earlier, as previously reported, the Anti-Corruption Agency prevented the inefficient spending of budget funds amounting to 12.4 billion tenge through monitoring of public procurement since the beginning of this year.
