In Atyrau, the head of the pre-trial detention centre (UG-75) was detained for bribery.

According to ORDA, officers of the investigative-operational group of the National Security Committee for the Atyrau region detained the official at a bathhouse after he received 500 thousand tenge. It is reported that this was a reward for a promise to keep one of the convicts in the pre-trial detention centre.

It has become known that the detained individual was appointed to the position of head two months ago. Prior to this, he had been acting head and was awaiting the order for his appointment.

At the same time, it is noted that he previously worked as head of a colony in Uralsk.

Recall that in May, in the Almaty region, the deputy head of colony No. 57, Nurlan Bidaibekov, was detained. He is suspected of taking a bribe.

Shortly before this, the media reported that Bidaibekov was detained by officers from the National Security Committee department and the prosecutor's office. At the same time, the report stated that he was suspected of extorting money from convicts.

In another case, the prosecutor's office of the Almaty region uncovered serious violations in correctional institutions in the region. It was reported that prisoners used mobile phones for online shopping, taking out loans, and participating in gambling through bookmakers and online casinos, where the total cash turnover amounted to more than 3 billion tenge.
