The Anti-Corruption Service detained a citizen of Kazakhstan who had been on the wanted list since 2023. He was placed in the temporary detention facility of the Almaty police department.
According to the press service of the agency, the man is suspected of embezzling state property - three houses and two flats, previously confiscated by court order.
It is reported that officials from the akimat and the Committee for National Security of Almaty are also accused of involvement in fraudulent operations. It is alleged that with their assistance, the property was sold at reduced prices and without the legally required auctions.
As it became known, after the suspect's arrest in Bishkek, he informed officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan of his readiness to voluntarily return to his homeland.
"Under the coordination of the Almaty prosecutor's office and escorted by officers of the Anti-Corruption Service, citizen 'U' crossed the border of the Kyrgyz Republic and was delivered to the city of Almaty. Investigative actions involving the suspect are currently underway," the statement reads.
