The Anti-Corruption Service for the Zhetysu region has detained the head of the regional department for the regulation of natural monopolies.
According to the press service of the agency, the official is suspected of receiving a bribe of 500,000 tenge from the head of JSC «Taldykorgan Joint-Stock Transport and Electricity Grid Company».
The bribe was intended for an increase in the tariff and tariff estimate for electricity for 2025. Other details are not disclosed in the interests of the investigation.
Recall that earlier it was reported that the management of JSC «Regional Centre for Public-Private Partnership of the East Kazakhstan Region» is accused of embezzling 2.5 billion tenge of budget funds during the implementation of a street lighting modernisation project in Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey, abuse of office, illegal participation in entrepreneurial activities, and legalisation of criminal proceeds.
