Employees of the Anti-Corruption Service of the Almaty Region have detained the head of the local Department of State Property and Privatisation on suspicion of committing a serious criminal offence.
According to the press service of the agency, he is suspected of fraud in the sphere of land relations for an amount exceeding 750 million tenge. It has become known that the official changed the designated use of land plots without paying the difference in cadastral value, in order to increase their liquidity and obtain criminal income from their sale.
It is noted that officials of the local executive bodies of the Karasai District acted as accomplices. As a result, the state suffered material damage amounting to more than 1 billion tenge.
In addition, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted against the head of the department regarding the legalisation of stolen money through the acquisition of movable and immovable property.
The suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention centre of the police department of the Ili District. The investigation is ongoing.
Recall that in May, the head of the Department of State Property and Privatisation for the Karaganda Region, Dastan Khamzin, was found guilty of receiving a bribe in the amount of 1 million tenge for signing a certificate of completion of work on the repair of the treasury department building.
