Zhezkazgan City Court has announced a verdict against the head of the Department of Culture, Language Development and Archives of the Ulytau region, Omar A.S..
According to data from the press service of Anticor, the defendant was found guilty of embezzling budget funds totalling 2.3 million tenge.
The head of the state institution illegally appropriated funds for uncompleted work on the publication of collections of articles by museum specialists and other academics.
It will be recalled that in March of this year, the heads of the Department of Culture, Language Development and Archives of the Ulytau region were sentenced to 6 years' imprisonment for receiving a bribe of 2 million tenge.
The bribe was given in exchange for general patronage and signing of acts under a contract for archaeological excavations in the area of ancient burial grounds on the territory of the region.
Taking into account the first sentence, the defendant was given a cumulative punishment of 6 years and 6 months' imprisonment with a lifetime ban from holding positions in public service.
