The deputy akim of the region, Gulbaram Mussagazina, submitted her resignation on the day of her detention in connection with the procurement of medical equipment.

WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE DETENTION

According to Telegram channel «HALYQSTAN», her resignation took place on the same day that investigative authorities carried out the detention, making the personnel decision part of an unfolding anti-corruption case in the region's healthcare sector.

According to investigators, on the evening of 11 February, Mussagazina was detained after being questioned at the anti-corruption service. Almost two days later, an investigative court placed her under house arrest.

The official is suspected of abuse of power. The case involves the procurement of medical equipment at inflated prices and in quantities exceeding the needs of the region's clinics and hospitals. Other details of the case are not specified in the materials.

WHO ELSE IS INVOLVED IN THE CASE

The main figures in the investigation are named as the former head of the healthcare department, Daniyar Dzhandayev, his deputy, Yerbolat Dospanov, and the chief physician of the Karasu District Hospital, Vladimir Golubev. Investigative actions against them have been ongoing since the second half of last year. They have also all been placed under house arrest.

THE AKIMAT'S POSITION

The fact of her dismissal was reported by Tobolinfo.kz, citing the region's akim, Kumar Aksakalov.

"Currently, investigative measures are being carried out. According to the law, state bodies are not entitled to interfere in the course of the investigation or provide an assessment. I am counting on an objective and comprehensive review of all circumstances," said Aksakalov.
