Around 1.4 billion tenge were allocated from the government reserve for the reconstruction of a protective dam in the village of Teplichnoye, Kyzylzhar District, North Kazakhstan Region. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

According to the press service of the department, the decision was made as part of implementing the instructions of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to strengthen flood protection structures.

The project provides for a complete modernisation of the hydraulic facility, including the restoration of access roads, the laying of reinforced concrete slabs, the installation of a drainage system, and landscaping.

The upper level of the dam will be raised to the maximum flood level of 2024 in order to ensure full protection of the settlement.

According to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, work to strengthen hydraulic infrastructure in the country is being carried out systematically.

In six regions — Akmola, Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Pavlodar, and North Kazakhstan — 57 projects are being implemented, including the construction of 13 new facilities. To date, 40 projects have been completed, and 221 km of dams have been reinforced, which amounts to 91% of the planned volume.

Recall that Teplichnoye, home to around one thousand people, was among the villages in Kyzylzhar District most affected by the floods. During the 2024 flood period, a local state of emergency was declared there: due to the overflow of the Yesil River, the protective dam, built back in 1980, reached an emergency state.
