Gamekeepers from the Akmola region are suspected of illegal hunting

An investigation has been launched in the Astrakhan district of the Akmola region regarding a possible violation of environmental legislation. According to the police department of the Akmola region, the senior gamekeeper of one of the local limited liability partnerships managing hunting grounds is under suspicion.

WHAT WAS FOUND DURING THE INSPECTION

According to Zakon.kz, on 14 February, a report of possible illegal hunting was filed with the district police department. During an inspection of the estate, parts of the carcasses of several animals, presumed to be roe deer and saiga antelope, were discovered. A criminal case has been initiated on this matter.

"Necessary investigative measures are currently underway, aimed at gathering evidence and establishing all the circumstances of the incident. The arguments of the parties are being thoroughly examined, and relevant expert examinations have been ordered," noted the department's press service.

LARGE-SCALE INSPECTION OF HUNTING GROUNDS IN THE REGION

Since 1 February, an operational and preventive operation (OPO) "Poacher" has been conducted in the Akmola region, aimed at identifying and suppressing instances of illegal hunting and other violations of environmental legislation.

As part of the OPO, 96 mobile groups have been formed, and more than a thousand raid operations have been carried out. According to police information, since the start of the raids, 184 administrative offences have been identified, of which 130 are related to violations of hunting rules.

Earlier, it was reported that an illegal shooting of roe deer was recorded in the Burlinsky district of the West Kazakhstan region. One person has been detained, and the possible involvement of others is being investigated.
