Another group of poachers has been detained on Lake Zhukei in the Burabay National Park in the Akmola Region.

According to Polisia.kz, this is already the third case of poaching identified within the national park in a week.

“On 22 September this year, the Birzhan Sal police department received a telephone report that, around 11:00 p.m. on Lake Zhukei in the Temnobor forestry district of the Burabay State National Nature Park, another case of illegal fishing was identified,” the report states.

It became known that forestry workers stopped a car driven by a resident of the Turkestan Region on the Shchuchinsk-Stepnyak-Valikhanovo highway.

Arriving operatives discovered four bags of fish, a rubber boat, and fishing nets in the boot. This time, the poachers' catch exceeded 160 kg of fish.

It is noted that a pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the fact of illegal extraction of fish resources.

Earlier, inspectors of the Burabay National Park detained poachers who had caught more than 650 kg of fish on Lake Zhukei.

This was the largest case of fish poaching on the territory of the national park in the last five years. The amount of damage amounted to 9.1 million tenge

At the same time, the national park promised that by the end of this year, smart video surveillance systems, Smart National Park Burabay, would be installed on Lake Zhukei. It is expected that this will allow for effective control of the situation on the water body and the prompt suppression of cases of poaching.
