Kazakhstanis have been warned about scammers who are disseminating messages on behalf of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection (MLSP) claiming that the department is paying compensation to those affected by floods.
According to the MLSP press service, to receive payments, unknown individuals are offering to click the "More details" button or follow a link.
"In accordance with the instruction of the head of state, one-time payments will be made to Kazakhstanis affected by the floods by local executive bodies. Their amounts will be set in each region separately by decision of special commissions created to calculate the material damage caused", the statement said.
It has been reported that the specified link is used to obtain the user's personal data. The department advised not to follow the link to avoid the unpleasant consequences of the scammers' actions.
"Official information on the prescribed measures of state support is distributed exclusively via SMS messages from the number 1414. We ask citizens to trust only information from official sources. We remind you that the dissemination of false information is punishable by law", the ministry reported.
