5 billion will be allocated by the "Qazaqstan Khalqyna" fund to those affected by floods

The Public Foundation «Қазақстан халқына» will build 200 houses for those affected by the floods. It will also allocate at least 5 billion tenge to help those evacuated from flooded areas. This was reported by the Foundation's press service on its Telegram page.

"In line with our mission, one of the foundation’s goals is to provide assistance to affected populations during emergencies. Accordingly, the foundation will support the construction of houses for those affected by floods in several regions of Kazakhstan, totalling 5 billion tenge. Charitable aid will be contingent on an objective assessment by local executive bodies and confirmation by relevant expert organisations that rural housing is unfit for use. Once supporting documents are received, the internal decision-making procedures for approval will be carried out within the foundation."

Furthermore, based on experience providing charitable assistance in April 2022 in the Karatobe District of the West Kazakhstan Region, the Foundation plans to build 200 similar houses for families affected by the floods. 

At the same time, the press service of Akorda reported that on 30 March, the head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting regarding the emergency situation. The topic was flooding in the country's regions. 

The President sharply criticised the actions of the government and akims for negligence and unprofessionalism. According to him, the government and local executive bodies are not working in a coordinated manner – there is a lack of coordination. 

For failing to take timely measures, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev issued a strict reprimand to First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov

Additionally, warnings of incomplete service compliance were issued to the akims of the Aktobe, Kostanay and West Kazakhstan regions, while strict reprimands were given to the akims of the Atyrau, Akmola, Almaty, Pavlodar regions and the Abai region

Moreover, the head of state ordered the creation of a Republican Headquarters led by the Prime Minister, as well as the strengthening of flood prevention efforts in all regions. State bodies were instructed to assess the damage caused by the natural disaster.
