A resident of the Akmola region concealed his grandmother's death and collected her pension for three years. According to the press service of the Akmola region prosecutor's office, the accused has been brought to criminal responsibility.

"During an analysis of pension provision, it was established that in 2021, a pensioner, P.E.N., born in 1937, died in the village of Zerenda. Meanwhile, the deceased's own grandson, having taken possession of her pension bank card, deliberately, out of selfish motives and for the purpose of personal enrichment, concealed the fact of her death from the authorised bodies, used the deceased's bank card, and systematically stole pension payments", the statement says.

In total, the offender stole more than 4 million tenge. The prosecutor's office of the Zerenda district conducted a pre-trial investigation under Article 190, Part 3, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (fraud committed on a large scale).

As a result, the accused was found guilty and sentenced to 3 years' imprisonment to be served in a medium-security institution. The amount of damages was recovered in favour of the state.
