The Prosecutor General's Office has reported the detention of former Minister of Internal Affairs Yerlan Turgumbayev. It is reported that this is connected to the January events.
“On 29 April of this year, for abuse of power and official authority resulting in grave consequences (Article 362, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan), in accordance with Article 128 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, former Minister of Internal Affairs Turgumbayev E.Z. was detained.” - reported the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
At the same time, it has become known that the criminal case contains information constituting state secrets, therefore other details of the investigation are not disclosed.
It will be recalled that in March, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported on the interrogation of Turgumbayev in connection with the January events. It was stated then that the supervisory authority has evidence in the case concerning the use of torture against detained citizens in a special detention facility located in the village of Koshmambet, Karasai District, Almaty Region.
