Employees of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the assistance of the Kazakh embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), extradited from Dubai an accomplice of the organised criminal group Arman Dzhumageldiyev ("Wild Arman").

According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, he is suspected of actively participating in mass riots as part of Dzhumageldiyev's gang during the January 2022 events in Almaty.

It is reported that after committing the crimes, the suspect fled and was on the international wanted list for about three years before being detained in the UAE.

The suspect has now been placed in a pre-trial detention facility in Astana. For the crimes he is charged with, he faces a sentence of 10 to 15 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property.

To recall, in January, a high-profile trial concluded in Almaty against one of the most notorious criminal figures in Central Asia – Arman Dzhumageldiyev. A specialised inter-district court sentenced him to 20 years' imprisonment for organising mass riots, kidnapping, and attempting to violently seize power during the January 2022 events.
