The former head of a colony was convicted of bribery in the Almaty region

A verdict has been handed down in Konayev against the former head of institution No. 57 of the Department of the Criminal Executive System (DUIS) Pisarev P. and the head of the operational department of institution No. 12 of the DUIS Bölekbai E.

According to the press service of the Almaty region prosecutor's office, they were accused of corruption.

"The defendants received bribes for providing patronage during the service of sentences, as well as for the unimpeded and repeated bringing of prohibited items into the institutions for convicts", the statement says.

The court found Pisarev P. guilty and sentenced him to 9 years in prison, and Bölekbai E. to 3 years in prison to be served in a medium-security penal institution.

Recall that in July 2024, it became known that court No. 2 of Ust-Kamenogorsk had handed down a verdict to the deputy head of the DUIS for the East Kazakhstan Region Ziyanov K.A. He was found guilty of abuse of official power.

In August, in the Ulytau region, service members and employees of the Committee of the Criminal Executive System (KUIS) were convicted for the use of torture.

In October, in Karaganda, a verdict was handed down against a senior operative officer of the DUIS for the Karaganda and Ulytau regions for torturing a convict.

At the beginning of November, in Ust-Kamenogorsk, employees of the DUIS of the East Kazakhstan Region were convicted. The former deputy head of institution No. 17 and a senior inspector were found guilty of embezzling 5.8 million tenge.

Later, in Stepnogorsk, the head of a correctional institution was convicted for attempted fraud.
