In the Karatal District Court of the Zhetysu region, a verdict was handed down in a case involving the illegal hunting of a goitered gazelle from the Red Book.

According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, in September last year, three employees of the State Institution 'Ushtobe Forestry' together with a local resident illegally killed a Red Book goitered gazelle on the territory of the forestry.

The court found all detained individuals guilty and sentenced them to 3 years of restricted freedom. The convicted persons compensated the state for damages in the amount of approximately 7 million tenge.

It will be recalled that in January 2024, police officers in the Zhambyl region detained a poacher who had shot a goitered gazelle. He turned out to be a local resident who had gone on an illegal hunt allegedly to provide himself with food. The damage to the state was estimated at 4,430,400 tenge. In May, the man was sentenced to 3 years suspended, with a ban on engaging in hunting activities for 7 years.

In January of this year, in the Zhusandaly protected area of the Zhambyl district in the Almaty region, a group of poachers was detained, among whom was an employee of the Kurtinskoye Forestry. The forester acted with three accomplices. In the suspect's service vehicle, the carcass of a Red Book goitered gazelle, three hares, rifles, cartridges, a searchlight, and a knife were found.
