In the Zhetysu region, the director of the state institution "Alakol State Nature Reserve" Kanatbek Abylkassimov, his deputy Nurlan Beisenov and the head of department Rustem Shalapanov have been convicted.
According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, they were found guilty of receiving bribes from residents of the Alakol district. The villagers paid bribes to avoid being held administratively liable for illegal haymaking.
The court found Abylkassimov and Shalapanov guilty and sentenced them to a fine of 10.5 million tenge each. Beisenov was ordered to pay 15.7 million tenge. The bribe-givers, Bulgunchinov and Kanagatov, were fined 6 million tenge and 2.2 million tenge respectively.
In addition, the convicted persons have been banned for life from holding positions in the civil service and in quasi-public sector entities.
To recall, in November, in Kostanay, the court ordered the former head of the Basaman forestry institution, Asgat Zhakashev, to pay 21.4 billion tenge to the state. The investigation established that his actions led to a large-scale fire, which damaged flora and fauna, and destroyed more than 32,000 hectares of forest.
Also, for failing to take measures that could have prevented the rapid spread of the fire in "Semey Ormany", which resulted in the deaths of 14 employees of the forest reserve, the acting general director of "Kazavialesookhrana", Talgat Aliyev, was convicted. The court ordered him to pay the Ministry of Ecology the amount of damage from the fire, totalling 161.5 billion tenge. He will also have to pay a state fee of 4.8 billion tenge.
