The Akim of the Zhambyl region Yerbol Karashukeyev visited the town of Zhanatas, which was flooded due to heavy rain. During the visit, he familiarised himself with the emergency response work in the Sarysu district, and also praised the work of the volunteers.

As a reminder, on the evening of 7 July in Zhanatas, slope runoff caused by heavy rain flooded 47 houses, a school and over 400 household plots. A natural emergency situation was declared in the district. A specially formed commission is currently working to assess the scale of material damage.

Meanwhile, as part of the ‘Taza Kazakhstan’ environmental campaign, large-scale events are taking place in the Zhambyl region. On the initiative of the regional akim, about 200 young volunteers from different settlements in the region took part in cleaning up the affected town.

‘Charity is a quality inherent in our people. In difficult times we have always come together and helped our brothers and sisters. I believe that doing such a good deed is a heroic act,’ said Yerbol Karashukeyev, thanking the young people for their compassion.

It is also reported that the head of the region inspected the flooded homes and household plots, met with local residents, listened to their suggestions, and took control of measures to eliminate the consequences of the emergency situation.

The regional akim noted that the state will provide all necessary assistance, and none of the affected residents will be left without support. Yerbol Karashukeyev also inspected the regional road Zhanatas-Saudakent, which was damaged by the flood, and ordered it to be restored within a week.
