In the capital's Sarayshyk district, volunteers and government officials joined forces to remove unauthorised graffiti near the "Nurly Zhol" railway station - one of the capital's key transport hubs. The event was attended by representatives of the Sarayshyk district akimat, the police department, public activists and volunteers.

HOW THE WORK IS CARRIED OUT
The head of the internal policy department of the Sarayshyk district akimat, Aidar Aitpaiuly, explained that such campaigns are held weekly as part of the "Taza Qazaqstan" and "Law and Order" campaigns.
"In general, we hold such events weekly as part of the "Taza Qazaqstan" and "Law and Order" campaigns. If we find wall inscriptions, damage to property or signs related to drug abuse, we report them to the police and begin work to remove and restore the walls. Since Sarayshyk is a new district, such cases do not occur often here. Nevertheless, today we are cleaning graffiti found in the area of the "Nurly Zhol" railway station and on the territory of "Tursyn Astana 1"," Aitpaiuly said.

WHAT OFFENDERS FACE
Deputy Head of the Public Security Department of the Sarayshyk district police department Diplombek Baltashev reminded those present of the liability for such offences.
"For unauthorised inscriptions and drawings in public places, part 4 of Article 434 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offences provides for a fine of 50 MCI or administrative arrest. There is also a category known as drug graffiti. In this case, investigative actions are carried out and criminal liability already applies," Baltashev noted.
Vandalism - breaking bus stops or damaging benches - also carries administrative liability. According to the organisers, the campaign will continue.
