The €3 million invested in ecology did not yield results.

Submitted by Вера Александрова on

Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Yerlan Nysanbayev stated that the invested €3 million (1.6 billion tenge) of the Aliya Nazarbayeva-controlled LLP «ROP Operator» in the waste processing sector yielded no results.

According to media, the minister reported that in Aktobe region, the investor – LLP «Delta Aktobe» planned to establish waste sorting, but due to shortcomings by local authorities, the previously granted land lease agreement was terminated.

Meanwhile, a project worth €1.6 million (865.1 million tenge) for waste sorting with a capacity of 60 thousand tonnes per year has still not been launched in the region. It was financed in 2021 by «ROP Operator».

Similarly, in the Abay region, a sorting project with a capacity of 100 thousand tonnes per year worth €2.6 million (1.4 billion tenge) has not been launched since 2021.

Furthermore, Nysanbayev reported that in the Almaty region, JSC «Alatau Zharyk Kompaniyasy» issued technical specifications for a non-existent substation, which led to a delay in submitting documents for the company LLP «ADC Taza Alem» to JSC «FRP».

In the Kyzylorda region, land plots were allocated for six waste sorting projects in district centres, but without electricity, water and gas supply, or roads. Meanwhile, in the East Kazakhstan region and the Ulytau and Zhetysu regions, there are no plastic processing enterprises.

«For glass processing plants in the Almaty, Zhambyl regions and in Almaty and Shymkent, and when implementing the announced projects in Aktobe and Kyzylorda, the akimats of the remaining regions need to work out the issue of supplying secondary raw materials to these facilities. Despite the complete lack of waste sorting, there are no projects in this direction for the Turkestan region, Abay region and the city of Shymkent», added Nysanbayev.

Recall that we previously wrote about how the actions of JSC «Investment Fund of Kazakhstan» (IFK), JSC «Development Bank of Kazakhstan» (DBK), LLP «ROP Operator» and a number of state bodies led to the bankruptcy of the unique tyre recycling and processing plant LLP «Kazakhstan Rubber Recycling». Later, the founder of FBRK, Kirill Pavlov, visited the ruins of the plant and proposed some ways to solve the problem.
