Employees and cadets of the Academy of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have been convicted of corruption

In the Akmola Region, a lecturer from the Ministry of Emergencies' Civil Protection Academy, G. Khasanova, and commanders of line units I. Yernazar, R. Shaikenov, as well as cadets B. Seitebay, A. Amanbay and A. Yerkin have been convicted.

According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Khasanova was found guilty of receiving bribes from students for passing milestone assessments in a general education discipline.

The unit commanders were accused of embezzling cadets' money after promising to help them obtain a special rank.

In addition, under the pretence of assisting with admission to the Russian Emergencies Ministry Academy, Yernazar fraudulently obtained 2.5 million tenge from a prospective student's parents.

The Akmola Regional Juvenile Court sentenced Yernazar to 3 years and 6 months' imprisonment. Khasanova, Shaikenov and the others were given fines, along with a lifelong ban from holding positions in the civil service and in quasi-public sector entities.

Furthermore, the convicted individuals were stripped of their special ranks: Khasanova of the rank of colonel, Yernazar of captain, and Shaikenov of senior lieutenant of civil protection.
