The authorities plan to relocate residents of the village of Petrovo in the Baiterek district of the West Kazakhstan Region, located near the Rozhkovskoye field, where oil and gas are extracted. The village is approximately 80 kilometres from Uralsk.
According to the publication "My City", the decision is linked to the need to ensure safety and sanitary protection for the population, given the active development of the field. At the same time, villagers claim that the field has a negative impact on the environment.
Details about the timing and procedure of the measure have not yet been disclosed. The district akim, Marat Togzhanov, noted that the village is not within the sanitary zone of the field, but the local residents decided to relocate of their own accord.
"The relocation will only begin after we find the money for it. Sixteen families live in Petrovo. One of them has many children. To move them out, it is necessary to build houses in the village of Yantsevro. The issue of which land the construction will start on is currently being resolved. This will require 300-350 million tenge. The villagers themselves proposed the relocation. As of today, the village has a primary school.", explained Marat Togzhanov.
Recall that earlier it was reported that monitoring of air quality and physical factors had begun on the territory of the Atyrau Oil Refinery (ANPZ) and in the nearby residential area. The inspection is expected to determine the final boundaries of the sanitary protection zone around the plant.
