Over 50 people, including children, were poisoned by natural gas on a train that arrived at Almaty-2 station. It transpired that the carriages had been provided to a film studio for shooting.

According to Centralmedia24.kz, the Almaty Health Department reported that 13 ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene.

In total, 52 people were affected. Ten children were hospitalised, two of whom are in intensive care, with the rest in specialist wards. The other casualties were released for outpatient treatment after being examined and receiving care.

JSC NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (KTZ) stated that they have no connection to the incident.

"The train in which the poisoning occurred does not belong to JSC 'Passenger Transport' and is owned by a private carrier. The carriages were provided to the film studio for filming," the company noted.

It was later revealed that filming for the South Korean series "ROAD" was taking place on the train. According to reports, the carriages for the film crew were provided by Mobil Trans Med LLP. The causes of the gas leak and the circumstances of the incident are being established.

Meanwhile, Tengrinews.kz reports that the filming process, which lasted about three hours, took place in a cold carriage. Despite wearing warm clothes, many participants suffered from the cold.

An eyewitness said that after filming, the group was moved to another freezing carriage. When people began to demand heat, the organisers set up a gas burner. According to the man, the first fainting spells began among the children shortly afterwards.
