One of the three deputies of former KNB chairman Karim Massimov - Marat Osipov has been released from custody.
According to the Telegram channel «Nege.kz», after serving part of his sentence, the former deputy was released by having the remainder of his term commuted to a fine.
For context, in January 2022, Karim Massimov and his deputies Marat Osipov, Daulet Ergozhin and Anuar Sadykulov were convicted of attempting a coup d'état.
As a result, Massimov was sentenced to 18 years in prison. Sadykulov was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Ergozhin to 15 years in prison. Osipov received the shortest sentence – 3 years in a penal colony; according to some reports, he cooperated with the investigation.
