Majilis deputy Bakytzhan Bazarbek told journalists that his work should be paid between 20–30 million tenge. According to the parliamentarian, he does many times more than what is required by law.
According to Kursiv.media, Bazarbek noted that he regularly initiates inspections by the prosecutor's office, the Supreme Audit Chamber (SAC), the Committee on Land Resources, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, the Ministry of Ecology, and the Environmental Inspection.
According to the Majilisman, this is not part of his duties, but he decided to do it because there is no one else.
"I understand that no one is dealing with this. They don't initiate inspections, they don't cancel illegal APZs (architectural planning assignments), sketch designs, PSDs (design and estimate documentation), or illegally allocated land plots. So I have to do it," he said.
Meanwhile, the statement about his salary sparked an active reaction on social media. Some users supported the deputy, but many questioned the justification for such demands. There were also comments with general criticism of parliament's work.
Bazarbek believes that the negative remarks are not just criticism, but an attempt by certain individuals to make a name for themselves at his expense.
"Those people who throw mud at me should understand that I am a force for good in parliament, I am on the side of good. I have journalists, bloggers, and public figures around me who support me. If they splash mud on me, who will they cultivate? They should support those people who advocate for the rule of law and establishing order in the country," the deputy believes.
Earlier, Bakytzhan Bazarbek told journalists that he has recently been under pressure. According to him, he has not received any threats, but the deputy is being called and messaged from anonymous accounts.
