Recently, information began circulating online that convict Kuandyk Bishimbayev, sentenced for murder, is absent from his place of detention. According to ORDA, his disappearance was reported by journalists from AIRAN

"According to their information, after the trial, Bishimbayev was supposed to be sent to a colony near the village of Arshaly. The channel's film crew recently went to check if the convict was actually there, but did not find him", the statement reads.

Meanwhile, the Committee of the Penal Enforcement System (CPES) denied information about an inmate escape - a version put forward by some media outlets.

"This convict is serving his sentence in a maximum-security facility. We report that after the dissemination of false information, a criminal case has already been opened, and those responsible will be held accountable", the CPES reported.

At the same time, human rights activist Bauyrzhan Mussin told journalists that Bishimbayev was never in Arshaly prison. According to him, he is in a different facility.

"He is serving time in facility No. 5 in Stepnogorsk, in the fourth unit. In our country, the place of serving a sentence is also chosen depending on the occupancy level of the facilities. Where a person will be held is only communicated to their relatives. The CPES is not obliged to inform the public about this", Mussin said.

To recall, in November 2023, Saltanat Nukenova died as a result of bodily harm in a restaurant in the capital.

Later, her husband Kuandyk Bishimbayev was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was detained for two months. Also taken into custody was the director of "Gastro-Centre", Bishimbayev's relative - Bakhytzhan Baizhanov, where everything occurred. He was accused of concealing the crime.

Ultimately, the court found Bishimbayev guilty and sentenced him to 24 years in prison. Baizhanov was given a sentence of 4 years in prison in a medium-security penal facility.
