Court hearings continue in Astana regarding the murder case of Saltanat Nukenova. Her husband, former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev, is the suspect. However, journalists were not allowed into the courtroom, citing the large number of participants in the proceedings.
Contrary to this, press.kz reports that the courtroom was half-empty, and media representatives watched the broadcast of the hearing in another room where the connection was lost. Additionally, court officials covered the cameras so that operators could not film Bishimbayev.
Unwilling to accept this, the journalists present called a police squad and filed a statement under the article on obstruction of professional activities. The statement was signed by about 30 staff members from various media outlets.
For context, in November 2023, Saltanat Nukenova died in a restaurant in the capital as a result of inflicting bodily harm.
Later, her husband, former Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kuandyk Bishimbayev, was detained on suspicion of murder. He was arrested for two months. The director of the "Gastro-Centre", where it all happened, was also taken into custody. He was accused of covering up the crime.
