Contradictions of the Trade and Space Company "Qazaqstan Ğarysh Sapary" (Part 2)

Submitted by Вера Александрова on

The FBRK editorial team previously began analysing the starkest contradictions of the national spatial data operator JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary" in the field of space monitoring, which in fact have no real confirmation.

We noted that the national company, receiving budget funding for full-scale operations and possessing its own satellites, buys space images from foreign suppliers for subsequent resale to Kazakh state agencies.

Moreover, since as early as 2015, representatives of the Aerospace Committee and JSC "NC "KGS" claimed that space images were provided to state bodies and organisations on a free-of-charge basis.

We also recalled that the national company provided the Ministry of Emergency Situations with inaccurate data from Earth remote sensing (ERS), as well as about the major incidents that Kazakhstan had already encountered first-hand.

Having analysed the statements of "KGS" cited in the "Space Monitoring" project, the FBRK editorial team concluded that the national company embellishes its achievements in the field of space monitoring.

Furthermore, we revisited earlier statements by representatives of the Aerospace Committee and JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary" and confirmed that self-deception and misleading the public about Kazakhstan's successes in the space industry has a history spanning almost 10 years.

More detail on the loud claims about achievements in the field of space monitoring, which were later refuted by other statements, or which generally found no real confirmation, can be seen in the graphic.
