The prosecutor's office of the Alga district in the Aktobe region secured the completion of water supply facilities in the villages of Tikkaikyn and Koktogai, whose residents went without drinking water for three years due to drawn-out works.

According to the press service of the department, during an analysis of the state of the population's drinking water supply, the supervisory authority established that construction in the two settlements had been effectively abandoned by the contractor, despite significant funding and contractual obligations.

In 2022, the local executive body of the Alga district and LLP «Life Stroy Invest» concluded a contract worth over 800 million tenge. The company committed to completing construction by December 2023, but the deadlines were missed, and the work was never finished.

As a result, residents of Tikkaikyn, home to 346 people, and Koktogai, home to 322 people, were forced to wait years for connection to the water supply.

The district prosecutor's office initiated a pre-trial investigation under Article 189 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan («Misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property»). The case materials were transferred to the National Security Committee's Anti-Corruption Service for further investigation.

Following the prosecutor's intervention, the contractor completed the work, and both villages were connected to drinking water. Thus, the violated rights of more than 600 district residents were restored.

Recall that earlier, residents of the «Krasny Kamen» garden community in Taldykorgan reported problems with roads and water quality. According to them, the infrastructure is in an unsatisfactory condition, and the works on water supply previously promised by the contractors were never completed.
