Residents of the Gate City residential complex in the city of Alatau took to the streets at night after nearly a full day without running water. According to residents, they called the police and filed a statement. Later, the Akimat reported that the water supply had been restored.

WHAT HAPPENED

According to Ulysmedia.kz, the incident occurred in the Gate City residential complex, located in Koyankus — a former village that became part of the city of Alatau.

According to residents, there had been no water for nearly a day. They claim that such disruptions happen regularly. On Saturday night, residents gathered in the courtyard of the residential complex, called the police, and filed a statement.

One resident reported that this time, the water supply was absent from morning until three o’clock in the morning, and that a similar situation had occurred before.

WHAT THE PRESIDENT SAID PREVIOUSLY

Earlier, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at a meeting on the development of the city of Alatau, drew attention to the problems of the settlements that had become part of the city, including Koyankus.

The Head of State stated that residents of the annexed settlements report a lack of stable internet, quality roads, centralised water supply, and systematic power outages. The President highlighted the contrast between the Alatau Smart City project and the existing living conditions, calling the situation a failure of the Government. In this context, he mentioned Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev and the Akim of the Almaty Region, Marat Sultangaziyev.

WHAT THE AKIMAT REPORTED

As the publication reports, the editorial team contacted the Akimat for comment. They briefly stated that the water supply had already been restored.
