According to the prosecutor's office, the administration of the Makhambet rural district planned to build a new building for the police department on a park area. The project involved the felling of green spaces over an area of 2 hectares.

Under the act of prosecutorial supervision, the decisions of the village mayor were reversed. The department reports that this preserved the ecosystem of the area and supported the objectives of the environmental campaign «Таза Қазақстан».

WHO HAS BEEN HELD ACCOUNTABLE

Those brought to disciplinary responsibility include the deputy mayor of the district, the heads of the land relations and construction departments, and the head of the Makhambet branch of the NJSC «Government for Citizens».

The mayor of the Makhambet rural district has been dismissed from his post. Other details of the penalties are not specified in the materials.
