A resident of Aktobe, whose child recently underwent treatment at the city's children's infectious diseases hospital, has complained about the conditions in the medical facility.
According to the Telegram channel «ZTB NEWS», the situation in the wards does not meet sanitary and living standards, which negatively affects the health and psychological state of the young patients.
The woman said that the walls in the wards are dirty and peeling, the floor is covered with old, torn linoleum in places, patched with multi-coloured tape. The furniture is old and worn. The author of the complaint was particularly outraged by the beds, which are missing springs: plywood is placed under the mattress.
Furthermore, in one of the wards, a window was found to be taped up, raising questions from a safety perspective.
Separately, the child's mother complained about the quality of the food. The meals, she said, are meagre and poor in composition, and the butter given to the children "tastes like margarine" and contains almost no natural ingredients.
According to her, such a diet is dangerous for children with weakened immune systems, who are already in a vulnerable state. The woman also noted that in the isolation wards, there are no televisions or any other means of entertainment.
"Children cannot leave the ward, and there is nothing inside to help them take their minds off things. This only increases the stress," she said.
The woman is calling on local authorities to organise an inspection of the hospital, carry out major repairs, replace the furniture, review the dietary menu, and provide leisure activities for children in isolation.
For its part, the city's health department reported that an internal investigation had been conducted at the facility.
The department claims that everything in the hospital meets sanitary standards: the showers and ventilation are working, and the furniture was purchased in 2020–2021. It was noted that ward renovations are planned for this year. They promised to paint the walls and replace the linoleum.
At the same time, the department stated that the food is checked by a therapeutic nutrition council, and no complaints had been received about it previously. It claims that only thanks have been received.
