The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA), coordinated by the Main Transport Prosecutor's Office, has completed an investigation into officials of the State Communal Enterprise "Kyzylorda Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital". They are suspected of embezzling budget funds on an especially large scale.

According to the FMA press service, the hospital's chief accountant embezzled funds by inflating the purchase price of medical beds. To justify the high price, he used fake price offers prepared by his wife.

Ultimately, the hospital signed a contract with a local entrepreneur to purchase 220 medical beds at a total cost of 259 million tenge. The price of one bed was 1.2 million tenge

However, it turned out that the actual purchase price of one bed did not exceed 460,000 tenge — three times lower than the stated amount. Thus, the amount of unjustifiably inflated expenditure totalled 129 million tenge.

During the investigation, property belonging to the suspects worth 111 million tenge was seized. The damage to the state amounting to 129 million tenge was fully compensated. The chief accountant has been placed in custody for a period of 2 months. The criminal case has been sent to court.

Recall that previously, doctors at the Panfilov Multidisciplinary Interdistrict Hospital in the Zhetysu region stated that there were systematic violations by the institution's administration. The staff recorded a video address to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in which they demanded an inspection of the chief accountant, economist, and hospital management.
