The Main Transport Prosecutor's Office has completed its investigation into the former chairman of the board of JSC "NC KazAvtoZhol" Askar Muratuly and the company's general contractor. It is reported that the case has been referred to the court in Astana.
According to the press service of the department, they are suspected of embezzling state funds allocated for the repair of the "Zhaksy – Yesil – Buzuluk" road, including the construction of a bridge over the Ishim River.
"According to the investigation, the management of JSC 'NC KazAvtoZhol' illegally concluded a contract using a single-source method, giving unjustified preference to the contractor and transferring an advance payment of 200 million tenge, which was used for purposes other than its intended use", the statement said.
Recall that in April Askar Muratuly was detained on suspicion of embezzling budget funds. At that time, a preventive measure of detention for a period of 2 months was authorised for him.
Shortly before this, in Pavlodar, the director and chief specialist of the "KazAvtoZhol" branch were sentenced for receiving a bribe. The court sentenced the company's director to 8 years in prison, and the chief specialist received 7 years in prison.
