Dead saigas have been found in two villages in the Kurmangazy district of the Atyrau region.
According to ORDA, local residents began finding dead animals back in October.
"The bones of the dead saigas and pathological material from their internal organs were sent for examination to the laboratory of the National Reference Centre for Veterinary Medicine of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. Based on the results of the examination, pasteurellosis was identified as the cause of death of the animals. In this regard, a letter was sent to Okhotzooprom requesting the organisation of a collection of the carcasses of the dead saigas and the disinfection of the places where they were found.", — reported the district akimat.
As it became known, in November, specialists from Okhotzooprom and the district veterinary station conducted two raids and found 84 saiga carcasses in the territories of the Suindik and Azgir rural districts.
It is noted that all remains were disposed of in compliance with sanitary requirements.
"The issue is under the control of the district akimat. Currently, there are no saiga carcasses remaining.", — clarified the akimat.
At the same time, journalists noted that information is circulating on social networks about the illegal sale of meat from dead saigas in the Kurmangazy district for 13–15 thousand tenge per carcass.
As reported, representatives of Okhotzooprom and the district akimat stated that no such facts had been recorded.
"All found saiga carcasses were disposed of in accordance with sanitary standards. Control over the situation continues.", — reported the district akimat.
We remind you that the editorial board of FBRK has compiled a full chronology of the campaign to 'remove' saigas from their natural habitat. You can read about it via the link.
