Prosecutor General Berik Asylov announced the return of stolen assets worth 428.7 billion tenge to the state in 2024.
According to the department's press service, to date, 15 social and investment projects worth more than 48 billion tenge are being implemented under agreements with subjects of the Law.
"Taking international experience into account, the practice of judicially recovering assets of unexplained origin into state revenue has been introduced", the statement reads.
It is reported that within the framework of this practice, a lawsuit for $10 million has already been granted, and the amount has been reimbursed.
"Work is simultaneously underway with subjects regarding the voluntary reversion of property", the department concluded.
Recall, it was previously reported that from 2022 to 2024, assets worth about 1 trillion tenge were returned to the state. Of these, 220 billion tenge were directed to the Special State Fund, and the remainder was transferred to the state company for the management of returned assets.
A notable example: businessman Kairat Boranbayev, convicted in March 2023 for embezzlement in the quasi-public sector, voluntarily returned assets worth over 90 billion tenge and transferred 30 billion tenge to the Education Infrastructure Support Fund. In November 2023, he was released from prison. According to data from Deputy Chairman of the AFM Zhenis Yelemesov, the total amount recovered was 134.5 billion tenge.
