Two police officers in the Atyrau region have become the subjects of a pre-trial investigation following a complaint from a resident of the Makat district, who claimed to have given them money. The inquiry began after the man demanded the money back and contacted the internal security service.

WHAT HAPPENED

According to the source, a resident of the Makat district was stopped by police officers while driving under the influence of alcohol. The complainant stated that he gave the officers 300,000 tenge to avoid being held administratively liable.

Later, the man demanded the return of the money he had handed over and filed a complaint with the internal security service of the Atyrau regional police department.

RESPONSE FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT

The citizen's complaint was registered on 24 December 2025, after which a pre-trial investigation was launched. On the same day, the suspected police officers were detained — the arrest took place during a general meeting.

They were subsequently placed in a temporary detention facility.

RESULTS OF THE INTERNAL INVESTIGATION

Following the internal investigation, both officers were dismissed from the internal affairs bodies on adverse grounds. No further information regarding the classification of their actions or procedural decisions has been specified in the materials.

Earlier, in the Zhambyl region, officers of the National Security Committee detained the senior operative of the Baizak district police department, Major Zhasulan Elubay. He is suspected of receiving 700,000 tenge in exchange for a promise to drop a criminal case concerning livestock theft.
