The deputy head of the Zhanybek District Police Department, Medet Bisakov, is suspected of fraud. It is reported that he demanded 400,000 tenge from the head of a farming enterprise, promising protection.

According to the publication ‘My City’, the victim was involved in livestock trading and decided that such support would be necessary. Agreeing to the terms, he handed over 200,000 tenge to the police officer.

‘However, later the villager realised that Bisakov’s demands were illegal and contacted the anti-corruption service. On 14 September, the police officer was caught red-handed while receiving the remaining part of the agreed sum,’ the report states.

The court of the Zhanybek District ruled that the police officer would be placed under house arrest during the pre-trial investigation.

Earlier, it was reported that between January and July, 95 police officers were convicted on corruption charges. In 80% of cases, sentences were handed down under the articles ‘Bribery’ and ‘Fraud.’

For example, in October, an inspector from the control group for civilian and service weapons of the police department of the Maktaaral District in the Turkestan Region, Nursultan Aldabergenov, was convicted of repeatedly taking bribes.

In early August, the former head and an inspector of the Migration Service Department (MSD), as well as a former inspector of the Auezov District Police Department in the Abai Region, were convicted of corruption.

According to the investigation, the head of the department received a bribe from a police officer in exchange for a transfer, acting through an intermediary – an inspector of the MSD. The bribe amounted to $1,000.
