A dam at the Magadzhan Reservoir burst in the Aktobe Region. It is reported that water has reached Aktobe and the Alga District.
According to MIA «Kazinform», the dam is located in the rural district of Tabantal, Khromtau District, Aktobe Region.
«The villages of Beskospa, Kyzyltu and Tabantal in the Alga District are in the flood zone. Therefore, 215 people, including 96 children, were evacuated to the secondary school in the village of Beskospa and to the homes of their relatives, while livestock was moved to a safe place. Bank protection works are underway on the Tabantal River», the press service of the regional emergency situations department reported.
The Magadzhan Reservoir was built in 1985. The capacity of the dam is 15.8 million cubic metres.
It should be recalled that this is not the first such incident in the Aktobe Region recently. On 30 March, a dam at the «Shcherbakovskoye» embankment had already burst in the Aiteke Bi District.
Due to the threat of flooding, local authorities evacuated 927 people, including 215 children, from the village named after Zhurgenov. Later, the regional prosecutor's office announced that a criminal case had been opened regarding the dam breach.
