In the Akmola Region, authorities of the village of Koyandy have refuted reports of street flooding circulated in the media.
“The information mentioned in a number of media outlets about the flooding of streets in the village of Koyandy due to a lack of drainage work does not correspond to reality,” the press service of the Akimat reported.
It is noted that in Koyandy, as in other settlements at risk of flooding, work is being carried out to minimise the risks of inundation.
“As of today, no street washouts have been recorded in the village of Koyandy, and round-the-clock work is underway to remove snow. On Kenesary Street, snow has been fully removed. Roadworks in the village are being carried out in accordance with approved projects,” the statement says.
The Akimat explained that last summer a trench was dug in the village, which made it possible to lower the water level in the household area by 30-40 cm.
“In order to take timely preventive measures, approximately 11 km of trenches have been dug in the village and 88 culvert pipes have been installed, which will allow for the organised drainage of water from the village as a whole,” the Akimat reported.
At the same time, it is noted that the project is undergoing adjustments during the expert review, and upon completion of the approval procedures, the measures will continue.
