AFM is investigating the embezzlement of 212 million tenge during the capital repair of the House of Culture in the Zhetysu region.

The Department of the Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM) of the Zhetysu region is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the theft of budget funds allocated for the capital repair of the House of Culture in the village of Baktybai, Eskeldi District.

According to the AFM press service, in 2020 the district department of internal policy and the contractor entered into an agreement to carry out capital repairs of the facility for the sum of 753 million tenge

Under the terms of the contract, the contractor undertook to complete the work by December 2021, but the facility has still not been put into operation to this day.

During investigative measures, the authorised bodies identified the absence of some construction works that had previously been accepted and paid for on the basis of certificates.

According to preliminary data, the damage to the state exceeded 212 million tenge.

As part of the investigation, restrictions have been placed on the property of those involved in the case. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, it was reported that the AFM department of the Zhetysu region is conducting an investigation into the theft of budget funds during the construction of residential buildings. The damage exceeded 152 million tenge.
