The Ministry of Tourism and Sport conducted an inventory of sports facilities across all regions of the country.
According to MIA "Kazinform" citing the ministry, of more than 43,000 sports facilities, over 7,000 were not actually present. It is noted that they exist on paper, but in reality they are not there.
"Together with local executive bodies, an action plan has been approved to address the identified shortcomings for 2024-2026, within the framework of which construction, reconstruction and repair work is planned for 414 facilities across the republic. Priority will be given to facilities located in rural settlements", said the head of the ministry, Yermek Marzhikpayev.
Incidentally, there has been no report yet of criminal cases being opened regarding the existence of fictitious facilities, on which budget funds were most likely spent.
At the same time, it became known that at the end of 2023, the population's provision with sports infrastructure was only 52%.
