More than 500 trees were illegally felled in a forest in the Akmola region

In one of the forestry enterprises of the Bulandy District of Akmola Region, more than 500 pine and birch trees were illegally felled. The preliminary damage is estimated at approximately 1 million tenge.

HOW THE FELLING WAS DISCOVERED

Forestry employees reported the illegal felling to the Police Department (PD) of Akmola Region. During operational measures, police identified a resident of the village of Altyndy in Bulandy District, whose involvement in the incident is currently being investigated.

A criminal case has been opened in connection with this.

WHERE THE TIMBER COULD HAVE BEEN INTENDED FOR

According to the preliminary version, the felled pines and birches could have been intended for sale as firewood.

The preliminary amount of damage is approximately 1 million tenge.

CONTEXT

In February, similar violations were uncovered in Kostanay Region, where the prosecutor's office established facts of illegal tree felling and concealment of a forest fire at two forestry enterprises. Following the inspections, employees of the institutions, including managers, were held accountable, and the damage caused to the state in the amount of 1 million tenge was compensated.
