365 billion planned to be spent on education in Astana

In Astana, the budget proposes allocating 365 billion tenge to the education sector, which will be spent on teaching in kindergartens, schools, colleges and universities. 

According to bes.media, the relevant draft has been published on the website "Open NPA", but has not yet been approved by the Maslikhat.

It is reported that a total of 38.4 billion tenge is proposed for school education in the capital, and 83.8 billion tenge for per capita funding of students. 

Furthermore, they intend to allocate 3.7 billion tenge for special educational programmes, 3.8 billion tenge for gifted children in special educational institutions, and 4 billion tenge for the purchase and delivery of textbooks. 

Under the "Comfortable School" project, 125.8 billion tenge will be allocated for construction. At the same time, it has become known that 45.3 billion tenge is planned to be spent on the city's kindergartens. 

Money is also to be allocated for specialist training. The funds have been decided to be distributed as follows:

  • training of specialists in technical and vocational education organisations 19.6 billion tenge;
  • training of specialists with higher and postgraduate education, and providing social support to students 3.3 billion tenge;
  • training of specialists in organisations of technical and vocational, and post-secondary education 504 million tenge.

At the same time, the project includes 27 million tenge for awarding grants to state educational institutions for high performance. 

Furthermore, 1.4 billion tenge has been earmarked for the rehabilitation and social adaptation of children with developmental difficulties, and 585 million tenge for examining children's mental health and providing psychological and pedagogical assistance.

Funding is also envisaged for Olympiads and sporting events. They intend to allocate 236 million tenge for school Olympiads, extracurricular activities, and competitions in the capital, 14.2 billion tenge for supplementary sports education for children and youth, and 857 million tenge for methodological work. 

In addition, the budget includes money for monthly payments to guardians of orphaned children amounting to 233 million tenge, as well as 11 million tenge for one-off payments.
