In Kazakhstan, since the beginning of the flood period, the operation of 634 oil wells has been suspended. Oil production losses amounted to 16,000 tonnes.
According to bes.media, 141 wells have now had their operations restored, but oil production at 493 wells is still suspended.
Thus, in the Atyrau region, only 4 oil wells were suspended (JSC "Embamunaigas" – 3 wells, LLP "5A Oil" – 1 well). The remaining 489 are in the Aktobe region (JSC "SNPS – Aktobemunaigas" – 440 wells, JSC "KMK Munai" – 25 wells, LLP "Firma Ada Oil" – 24 wells).
At the same time, restoration work on oil wells is reported, including:
- pumping out water using pumping equipment and units, filling with soil, de-energising and sealing wells;
- assistance in carrying out work to build new and strengthen existing flood protection embankments in populated areas, work on raising and repairing dams.
