159 million appropriated by the heads of the railway security service of KTZ

The Interdistrict Criminal Court of Astana has sentenced the former heads of the paramilitary railway guard of "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy". The defendants were found guilty of embezzling particularly large sums and abusing their official positions.

According to the press office of the capital's courts, the General Director, his deputy, and the chief manager embezzled 159 million tenge from the LLP, which had been intended for the purchase of video surveillance equipment. 

Furthermore, the head of the guard used his authority to appoint the manager to the position of driver and to appropriate his salary, causing damages in excess of 1.5 million tenge.

As a result, the court found the defendants guilty and sentenced them to imprisonment for 7 to 8 years, with a ban on holding positions in the state and quasi-state sectors. The civil claim of the injured party was satisfied to the extent of the damage caused.

It is reported that the guilt of the defendants was established based on witness testimony, audit reports, and other evidence.
