Three earthquakes occurred in Kazakhstan within 24 hours.

Три землетрясения за сутки произошли в Казахстане

31 March in Kazakhstan, three earthquakes were recorded at different times. The tremors were weak and resulted in no consequences for the population.

WHERE THE EARTHQUAKES OCCURRED

The first earthquake was recorded at 00:42. The epicentre was located 33 km north-west of the city of Zharkent.

The second earthquake was recorded at 11:11. The epicentre was located 273 km north-east of Almaty. The depth was 10 km.

The third earthquake occurred at 13:23. Its epicentre was located 267 km north-east of Almaty, also at a depth of 10 km.

INTENSITY AND CONSEQUENCES

In all cases, the calculated intensity was 2 on the scale. The tremors were felt in the populated areas of the Zhetysu region, including:

  • the city of Zharkent,
  • the city of Tekeli,
  • the village of Zhansugurov (Aksu district).

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), no reports of casualties or damage have been received. No calls from the public to the number 112 have been recorded either.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW

An intensity of 2 on the scale refers to weak seismic vibrations, which do not cause destruction and may be barely noticeable.
