In Astana, they talk about vandalism with schoolchildren in advance, while there is no problem yet. Representatives of the prosecutor's office, police and education discussed with students how to take care of shared spaces and what responsibility is provided by law for damage caused to someone else's property.

WHERE THE MEETING TOOK PLACE

A class hour on the topic "Prevention of vandalism and graffiti in public places" was organised at school-lyceum No. 11 named after Uzbekali Zhanibekov. The lyceum is subordinate to the education department of the city of Astana.

Representatives of the prosecutor's office, the education department of the city of Astana and the police department came to the students.

WHAT WAS DISCUSSED AT THE CLASS HOUR

The students discussed three issues: taking care of public property, preserving shared spaces and the responsibility that the law provides for damage to someone else's property. The meeting took place in the format of a discussion, rather than a one-sided speech by adults.

WHY SUCH MEETINGS ARE NEEDED

The main goal, as reported by the akimat, is to cultivate in teenagers a culture of public order and a responsible attitude towards shared property. The organisers also hope to prevent offences and explain their consequences.

The director of the lyceum, Zamzagul Kamesheva, reported that such events have been taking place for more than one month.

"Since last year, within the framework of the 'Law and Order' direction and the 'Adal Adam' programme, many events have been taking place. The current meeting is dedicated to the prevention of vandalism in public places. The main goal is to form in the younger generation a culture of respectful attitude towards public property. The students took an active part in this meeting, which took place in the format of a discussion," she said.
