In the village of Borovskoye, Kostanay Region, the school-gymnasium named after Gabbas Zhumabayev has been temporarily closed for disinfection. The decision was made following information about a canteen employee who had previously been treated for tuberculosis. During the inspections, students have been switched to distance learning.

SCHOOL SWITCHED TO DISTANCE LEARNING

According to the Kazinform News Agency, citing the Department of Education of the Kostanay Region, an inspection has begun at the school. The reason was information that a woman who is not officially registered with the catering supplier may have been working in the kitchen.

While the inspection and sanitary measures are underway, students have been switched to distance learning until the end of the week.

INVESTIGATION INTO THE CATERING SUPPLIER

The department reported that the fact of the woman potentially working in the kitchen was confirmed, although the catering supplier — IE "Yunin" — denies this. A claim has already been sent to the supplier for breaching the terms of the contract.

At the same time, the education department clarified that the woman had been treated for tuberculosis several years ago and, after treatment, regularly underwent medical check-ups. Specialists are now additionally checking her state of health.

WHAT MEASURES ARE BEING TAKEN AT THE SCHOOL

A range of preventive measures is being carried out at the educational institution. In particular:

  • disinfection of all premises is being carried out;
  • a sanitary-epidemiological inspection is planned;
  • laboratory tests are being conducted.

In addition, a meeting with the parents of the students took place. Representatives from the education department, the central district hospital, and the district sanitary-epidemiological control office participated in the discussion. Parents were briefed on the current situation and had their questions answered.

EPIDEMIOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION

The sanitary-epidemiological service reported that, in accordance with the law, data on a specific patient, including the diagnosis and form of the disease, are not subject to disclosure.

According to the head of the department for control of particularly dangerous infections and tuberculosis, Assel Baimukhametova, specialists are continuing the epidemiological investigation at the place where the disease was registered.

A circle of contact persons has been identified, and medical examinations have been organised for them. Employees of the National Centre for Sanitary-Epidemiological Expertise have also carried out disinfection of all school premises.

It is reported that, subsequently, specialists will prepare mandatory sanitary and preventive recommendations. It is noted that the situation is under the control of the sanitary-epidemiological service and medical organisations.
